This St Jacobs wedding blog post has been in the works for a while. Christmas kept me busy so here we are, a bit late. If you are a client looking for pretty photos – please scroll down! There are about to be a lot of words first. One of my new years resolutions was to stop using the word sorry, so I’ll thank you in advance for your patience and, but this is a friends wedding so I have lots to say!
It is said you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. If this is true, I’m a very lucky girl ( and a bloody treat to be around). The people I’m with the most are of course the people I spend 40 hours a week with. In order of when they for married ( because they will bug me about the order in which I list them here ) Ashlee, Brad, Nikki, Rainey, Ashley & Kristy are part of that group. I realize this is 6 not 5 and actually my top people I spend time with is surprisingly larger than 6 but I didn’t shoot their wedding ( or they’re not married yet – vish I’m looking at you) but you get the point I’m trying to make. If I’m the average of my people, then I’m in good company (and also if you have time go back and look at their weddings …. their names all have links).
I’ve said this before, I work with some great people. And photographing the important milestones in their life is a blessing for me. I’m so glad I guilt-ed each of them into hiring me. Ha!
While I often joke that Ashlee is my work wife and the boys are my brothers, this then makes Kristy my work sister.
We’ve worked closely together since 2011 ( sharing an office for the majority of that time ). We can talk without words just using looks. We know when the other one is stressed. I can tell when she’s angry typing or someone fed her too much sugar. She’s smart and funny, a good listener and she’s got your back. Her dancing is my favourite thing in the world. She’ll tear a pair of pants like nobody’s business ( unrelated to the dancing). She sings in the same key for every song. I love her sister like she was my own sister, and she has pretty awesome parents, even when they call me out in front of about, oh, 90 strangers in the middle of a speech. She has a photographic memory which is frightening sometimes, and talks sports so much that I tune her out daily. She’s one of the most brave people I know, and I sometimes (always) envy her for that. She has a clear sense of right from wrong, and knows her heart. So watching her marry Kyle was one of my highlights last year ( along with Antonick’s wedding and all the babies guys. Chill. ) I wish I could list some things about Kyle like I did about Kristy but besides him liking sports and yelling at the TV I don’t really know all that much. I know he’s funny, adores their pup and he loves Kristy so this makes me like him so so much. Also his dad is a pretty rad dude, and his friends were pretty cool, there was one that was really needy, but I mean there’s always one.
All kidding aside, I’m so happy for you both, thanks for letting Nick and I stay in the haunted house with you guys.
Much love, and fist bumps – Miller.
